Tree planting @Edible Park, Medini: A symbol of sustainability

As Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) moves towards joining the ESG revolution and making it an essential consideration in the way it conducts its business, it has likewise aligned its CSR activities accordingly. On 18 November 2021, 60 determined members of the management team and volunteers, headed by President/CEO Datuk Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad, had some fun in the rain planting over 70 fruit trees at the park.

In just a few years, more people can enjoy picnics under the shade of durian, rambutan, pulasan and mango trees planted all over the park and taste their exquisite produce. Meanwhile, everyone who turned up enjoyed the Edible Park’s current harvests, such as daun pandan, serai, ulam raja, limau kasturi, and limau purut, which are all great kitchens staples.

The 5-acre Edible Park is one of 46 parks in Medini developed Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MIM). It is a platform for cultivating community around existing ideas of sustainable living, presented in various formats - gardens with inspirational design, educational workshops that encourage growing sustainable food at home, and an urban farm that enables support of local produce and sustainable farming.

It is a one-of-a-kind that promotes inclusivity and diversity that inspire individuals to make sustainable choices to attain positive outcomes regarding health and the environment.

The soft launch of the Edible Park was held in February 2018. A month later, the Edible Festival was held, attended by about 6,000 people.

In October 2018, another green living festival, branded as the Harvest Festival, was organised, marking another milestone for the Edible Park. It highlights the community and practices paving the path towards a greener, healthier urban environment.
