The origin of the BTS meal begins with the idea that everyone has a relationship meal with McDonald’s. You have your favourite McDonald’s meal set which you order at your nearest McDonald’s outlets. From the all-time favourites McNuggets, classic McChicken, local special Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng, to the kids’ popular Happy Meal. As such, you can confidently say McDonald’s has embedded deep into our modern-day food culture.
How BTS Meal Came to The Spotlight
Leading into 2020’s big sporting events in the United States, McDonald’s temptation to go on the conventional big advertisement to drive sales has taken an unusual path. The “famous order” campaign advertisement was rolled out instead. The likes of real and fictional celebrities’ famous orders were revealed. You will be able to find out the favourite McDonalds order of Kim and Kanye, Millie Bobby Brown, Whoopi Goldberg, Magic Johnson, reporter Erin Andrews, Dracula, the Hamburglar, and the Big Bad Wolf.
Why BTS Meal
BTS Meal offers a wider appeal given their global presence. According to the company, the meal “will be available in nearly 50 countries across six continents.” The potential reach of this offering is huge, and McDonald’s demonstrates its unfounded influence on food culture. According to McDonald’s USA CMO Morgan Flatley, “BTS truly lights up the world stage, uniting people across the globe through their music. We’re excited to bring customers even closer to their beloved band in a way only McDonald’s can – through our delicious food – when we introduce the BTS signature order on our menu”.
The BTS Meal
The BTS meal is neither a new set of burger meals nor a newly manufactured meal. It is the “famous order” of BTS when they enjoy McDonald’s in South Korea. You would find that the BTS meal consists of 10 pieces of Chicken McNuggets with sweet chili and cajun dipping sauces, a medium serving of fries, and a medium drink. The dipping sauces are picked by BTS and inspired by their time spent in McDonald’s South Korea. If you like a little kick to your meal, you can pair your nuggets with the sweet chili sauce that packs with a touch of heat. Alternatively, if you like a punch with the nuggets, you can choose to pair them with Cajun sauce, a mix of hot mustard with chili.
Malaysia is the first country to offer McDonald’s BTS Meal on 26 May 2021 due to time zone differentiation. As the first country to enjoy the BTS meal, fellow Malaysian were able to share their first tasting experience with the rest of the world. If you have noticed a long queue outside McDonald’s during the launch date, you would have guessed now what the queue was for. If you have missed the event, do not worry. Many creative BTS fans offer to resell the BTS meal packaging as memorabilia. These exclusive empty BTS packaging prices range from RM10 to RM50. It includes a paper bag, a nugget box, and a paper cup with the BTS logo printed on it.
