Located near Kota Iskandar, Kampung Sungai Melayu is one of the preserved villages in this fast-growing town area. Surrounded by mangrove trees and estuary, thus the namesake, this village offers more than a serene ambiance and beautiful greenery.

It’s unique ecosystem and village lifestyle offer unique experience near the city. You can enjoy boat tour, bird watching and crab catching, if you are into nature. If you prefer to experience village life, you can opt to play traditional games, follow the fisherman to try fishing or enjoy Malay traditional lifestyle package. Food hunters, you will enjoy their seafood and local products. Their packages include Boat Tour Package, Learning Package, Malay Kampung Trail, Fishing Package, and Bird Watching Package, all from as low as RM25 per pax.

At RM35 per pax, one can enjoy the Boat Tour Package to take a tour around the mangrove area, catch crabs, view mussel farming and visit the historical site of Japan invasion where this village was their checkpoint before entering Singapore.

Learning Package, which costs RM25 per pax, features crab catching, fish catching with nets, local products display and craft demonstration.

You can experience the village trail at RM25 per pax. You will be brought to visit their chili farm, play traditional games and view local products.

Fishing Package has three different time period. If you wish to fish from 8 am to 5 pm, you’ll have to pay RM25. The 8 am to 9 pm period costs RM30 per pax. While the overnight package, from 7 pm to 8 am, costs RM50 per pax, inclusive of 2 rooms on the raft house, featuring BBQ kitchen.

Bird watchers can enjoy bird watching from November till March every year, during their migration season.
