The tight restriction on mass gathering and group sports during this challenging period of Covid-19 pandemic has not stopped Sunway Iskandar from organizing another event to promote healthy living. This time, instead of having a physical event which entails group exercise, a virtual challenge is set.
The Sunway Iskandar Virtual Challenge invites you to be mentally and physically ready for a gruelling trial that puts you through the toughest core exercise – the plank!
Plank is an exercise in which you hold your body straight and parallel to the floor while resting on your toes and hands or elbows. Plank is very good for strengthening your core.
Organised by I Impact, in collaboration with Sunway City Iskandar, this challenge runs from 15 October 2020 until 30 November 2020. Registration is ongoing and you can do it at your own time.
Once registered, you can immediately start the challenge. Stay on the plank as long as you possibly can to stand a chance to win RM1000 in cash and a cool medal. Each participant is also entitled to an e-certificate and an exclusive Challenger T-shirt.
Gather 10 of your friends or family and face this challenge together. The group with the longest accumulated duration of plank by all 10 members will win RM2000 cash prize and a trophy.
All you have to do is film yourself or your group planking. Once done, upload your video using the same link where you registered. Make sure your whole body can be seen clearly in the video submission.
This challenge aims to be in the Malaysia Book of Records for The Most Number of People Doing a Virtual Plank. If this comes true, you will be a part of history.
The latest Guinness World Record for holding a plank was set this year by US Marine veteran George Hood, which is a whopping eight hours, 15 minutes and 15 seconds.
How long can you plank? Will you break this record?
Prior to the pandemic, Sunway had organised exercise events for a cause and to promote wholesome healthy living.
Exercise events such as the Sunway Iskandar Push Bike Fun Race to raise the awareness for World Environment Day had been organised regularly by Sunway Iskandar to foster the relationship between their communities in its township, before going virtual this time.
The Run For Rare event by the Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association (MLDA) in partnership with Sunway Group, was to spread awareness of rare diseases.
Sunway The Good Run by Sunway Property and Sunway Medical Centre, in collaboration with the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) and Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), where proceeds were channelled towards cancer-focused organisations.
“Having a healthy lifestyle means staying fit physically, mentally and emotionally. Living a healthy lifestyle can help prevent chronic diseases and long-term illnesses. By being healthy, you will also feel good about yourself. Continue to have an active lifestyle, stay positive and have a growth mindset to boost your self-esteem.” said Sunway founder and chairman Tan Sri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah
In line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Sunway had been engendering and promoting a healthy lifestyle towards improving the health and well-being of the communities it serves.
